I'm Xander MacIver, a student currently enrolled at Durham School of the Arts. I love all forms of storytelling, from books, to movies, TV shows, to video games. I'm a very passionate person when presented with something I like, and this carries over to my passion for design and storytelling.
I have been interested in video games from a very young age. I have grown up with video games, and at this age, I can now officially say that video games are a part of who I am. I have dedicated countless hours into finding out what makes video games good. Everything from storytelling, to level and character design, to mechanics, to music, to pretty much anything else that you could think of.

I may want to be a game designer, but I am also a storyteller.
I love game design. It has been a passion of mine for an incredibly long time.
But the main appeal of creating a video game for me will always be to put my ideas out into the world. Creating worlds and characters and telling stories has always been a passion of mine, and I believe that video games are one of the best ways of telling a story. Putting the player in the shoes of the character, allowing them to go through the story themselves, letting them fight their own fights, makes for an experience that no other form of media can provide.
While I would be fine in almost any career in game design, I would most prefer actually directing the design of a video game, or being a writer.
I personally believe that video games can not only be an art, but they can be something so much more. Call me cheesy, but I believe that a video game can be an experience.
